An export site for components fails when it could belong to any company. Write what you are, then build the path a buyer uses to check a part and ask. The reply is part of the site, because a form that nobody answers is a dead end.
Say who you are
Manufacturer, authorized agent, trader, or a firm that ships a solution: the home page should use one of those words. A trader should not wear a manufacturer’s claims. An agent should name the lines and the limit of the authorization.
Order the columns as a buying path
Category, brand, part search, application, and documents should meet on a product page. A column that does not help someone find or check a part can wait.
The home page does three things
Say what you sell, show where to search, and show how to inquire. A rotating banner that hides those three is working against the page.
Product pages use a table
Identity, electrical and mechanical parameters, and commercial fields belong in a table. A paragraph of adjectives does not let an engineer compare a voltage or a package.
Search and filters are basic
Exact part numbers come first. Filters use the stored parameters. If the only search is a site-wide word search, buyers will miss the part they typed.
Take a whole BOM, not only one line
Upload, split rows, match, then separate quotes, shortages, and substitutes. A person confirms a substitute. Limit file type and size, and do not keep finished attachments forever.
The quality page describes a process
Incoming checks, labels, appearance, and the shipping record are concrete. A page that only says “quality assured” gives a buyer nothing to verify.
The document center serves selection
Datasheets sit on the part, with a date. Application notes can live in a library if they link back to the parts they affect. A download with no version is a support problem later.
Separate words by intent
Some pages answer “what is this part,” some answer “who supplies it,” and some answer a selection question. Do not paste the same keyword list onto empty part pages. A thin page with only a part number is worse than no page.
Update from real buying questions
Use inquiries and searches with no result to choose the next article or the next missing parameter. A fixed posting calendar that ignores those gaps does not help the catalog.
Trust comes from details someone can check
Address the company as the same name in the footer, the confirmation, and the inquiry reply. Show stock time. Name what you do not sell. Those details are stronger than a wall of logos.
Speed, security, and the admin decide whether it lasts
The main content should appear on a normal phone. Inquiry and the admin use an encrypted connection. Staff can export parts and inquiries. The domain and the host account belong to the company, not only to the builder.
Reply speed is part of the website
The confirmation should say who replies and the window you actually keep. A form with no owner is not an inquiry path. Do not print a response time you have not agreed.
Write one invented part all the way through
Before launch, walk one sample part from search to the product table, the datasheet, and the inquiry mail. If you have to switch tools or copy the number by hand, the path is not finished.
Use four sentences in every reply
Say whether you can supply that exact part, the stock or lead time you know, what a substitute would change, and what you need next. Those four sentences are more useful than a long introduction.
Pick the next articles from real gaps
Two or three pieces a week is enough if each one answers a question buyers already asked. Do not invent statistics or customer names to fill the calendar.
One page of checks before you open the site
Use the list below. A failed line is a reason to wait, not a note to fix after the announcement.
- Five random parts can be found by the full number, and a near number does not open by itself.
- Each public part has a package, one key electrical parameter, a stock time, and an inquiry.
- Parameter names in the target language were read by a person, not only the menu.
- The quality page can point to labels, appearance, and lot records, not only a slogan.
- A phone can search and submit an inquiry, and the confirmation states the reply window.
- A saved old address redirects or says the page was withdrawn.
- Products and inquiries can be exported, and the domain and host accounts belong to the company.
Common questions
Should a trader’s site look like a manufacturer’s?
No. A trader should state the parts covered, how fast a quote comes, the substitute rule, and the inspection. Dressing it as a factory fails when authorization and lead time come up.
What are the minimum rules for a BOM upload?
Use an encrypted connection, limit file type and size, show the inquiry only to the people who quote, and delete finished attachments on a schedule.
If there are few part pages, is there nothing for search engines to read?
A pile of empty part numbers is worse. Finish the parts that have a datasheet and a stock status, and use articles for selection questions.
